Puppy Raising
Without the dedication and commitment of our Puppy Raisers we wouldn’t be able offer such wonderful dogs our blind clients.
All successful applicants accepted onto our puppy raising programme will be given training in advance of receiving our puppies. We expect that our puppy raisers will train our puppies the basic cues and give them solid foundation skills, as well as socialising and exposing our puppies to most of the environments and situations they will encounter in their working life.
Our puppies are placed with our puppy raisers at about 8 weeks of age and will remain with the puppy raiser until they are approximately 12 months of age. Timing will depend on the puppy’s development.
All costs relating to the puppy are met by Pathfinder Dogs. We cover food costs, vet costs, all costs relating to equipment and toys etc.
We provide a puppy raisers training manual along with 1to1 training and support. All our puppy raisers have 24/7 support from our training team.
